Hi James. Madeira. I was there just over a month ago when the Angels were all lit up, and the department store with the red carpeted staircase was full of Christmas Decorations for sale. Funny old store!!

We too make for the Golden Gate cafe, great for people watching while indulging a drink and one of those delicious pastries.

Hi James,

Nice update from Madeira, a place i have not been to for over 30 years, i bet it has changed a lot in that time, when i was there on Oriana, as we were leaving or perhaps just after we left we passed Oronsay as she was heading back to Soton for her last journey before going to the breakers.

We just had a top of 42.9c at 15.35 this afternoon, i was at work today so had the luxury of A/C but unfortunately the power went off about an 1 and half before i finished. When we got home lucky for us we still had power so i am feeling quite cool now. at 18.30 it was still 40c, we are expecting 41c tomorrow.Although dry heat is fierce i would sooner have that than 82% humidity.

My best friend just phoned up from Bosham and he was telling me that his Yacht is covered in snow and ice.but he managed to go beating in the woods yesterday.

The sea looks calm today,looking forward to seeing if you can get Murray Walker to do a guest spot on this blog.

Hi Geoff from Perth,
Just had a look at the weather in Perth WA and is 41.1 degrees,humidity is only 12.5 which is good, dry heat basically but i bet you are laying low in the shade with lots of cold,cold drinks. Hope it cools down for you soon.
We are lucky today, only 32 and 82% humidity, nice cooling northerly breeze this arvo to dry the sweat...ha ha

Hi James,
The Golden Gate Cafe is also our favourite.It's strange to see the street(wide open spaces)without all the Christmas decorations.Their Nativity scenes, Father Christmas,the reindeers and all the flower stalls were magnificent.So pleased that the weather is better than we experienced, but hey ho, you're on the ocean, so what can you expect!!!
Please think of us when in Barbados in the heat, whilst wer're in wet Wales.

Oh Madeira. Again it brings back so many lovely memories. Fancy us turning up to the same restaurant as yourself and Nigel in the evening. Just had the CC bill in and there is plenty of christmas cruise spends on there - one being the afternoon tea on the terrace at Reids. £125 for 3 of us!

Gill, glad you've had a lovely evening and hope your settling into your new home nicely?

Barbados next for you guys ;-( All I can say is wish I was there - well I will be in mind if not in body ;-)

I'm glad Madeira was kind to you - the new cruise terminal sounds interesting, but will it spoil the lovely view?

We went to Swindon, from where we moved in November, for Tony's retirement party yesterday. We had a wonderful, if somewhat emotional evening, sad to think we'll not see many of his (ex) staff again. But lovely to think his days as a busy GP are over for good. And the extra time allows us to do longer cruises - roll on March!

Enjoy the warmer weather.
