Hi James, Enjoying all the info, and pictures. What a lot of glamour, just the way cruising should be. Keep up the good work. Could you transfer Murray Walker to Aurora in March as my OH would so enjoy seeing him?
Glad the weather is so good for you, the snow has gone from here now and we have rain instead, but at least they should be collecting the refuse next week.

Lovely too see some other faces of the crew who do such a fantastic job of making sure things run smoothly.Just looking at the webcam the sea looks quite smooth, hope the rest of the crossing is just as good.

Your blog is certainly a good advert for P&O as you were saying a Norwegian couple are doing the whole world cruise because they saw your blog.Like most of us i will have to win Lotto to be able to afford a dream trip like that.

The weather seems to be playing havoc with the whole of Britain including the trains. When it is extremely hot here IE 42c, a lot of people go to the beach to try and cool off,a lot of homes do have A/C we have two in our house and i am running one now as i type this.We live not far from the beach so we sometimes get the cool sea-breeze coming in. We keep the house closed up during the day and then if it has cooled down we open the house up to try and avail of the breeze. We have reverse cycle A/C, but very rarely put on the heating. we have a wood burner like a lot of homes is WA do but again we don't use it that much.The Winters in Perth can be quite mild compared to the UK,but there are days when the temp does not get above 13c,plus it can also rain for a week at a time. In extreme heat the trains here in Perth can be affected by the lines buckling.Hope your getting better.

Anyway looking forward to more updates as you cross the Atlantic.

After his well earned leave it is great to have James back. I find his commentaries and pictures something I look forward to very much every day. Not too impressed with Carols efforts in his absence. Unfortunately our next cruise will be on the Oriana in February, but we are very excited for next year as we will be joining the Arcadia from Auckland back to Southampton and very keen to see all of James’s comments as the cruise progresses.
Do not know how you find the time to carry out the blog, knowing how hectic a day can be behind the scenes of a cruise liner. Have a great cruise and may the sun and weather gods be on your side.

Hi James - Well where shall I start - your comment above - why couldn't it have been like that on the Xmas cruise?? My tan would be much better if it had been like that from the first day out of Madeira (as I hoped it would be). Oh well you can never tell what the weather is going to be like can you! Not a complaint BTW ;-0) I did offer to be Nat's admin assistant whilst she's there on her own! But as she knows you don't actually get to see much of the outside world when you work onboard. Tom had problems getting into London yesterday for work, so as the dutiful wife that I am, when he asked me to book a hotel room up in London for the night and then take him a change of clothes, I dropped everything and did as I was told. I know what he meant about the train journey. DS dropped me off at the train station just after 6pm - and the train arrived at 7pm (this is on a trainline that is supposed to have trains running every 15 minutes). I wouldn't mind but as you know I've been poorly since getting home with a cough and cold and because the train company have decided it's not worth having the ticket office open for more than a couple of hours a day I had to sit in the pathetic little shelter open to the elements ;-o) Also when the ticket office isn't open you have to get a ticket from a touch screen machine! Last time I used it (early December), it didn't work and oh, guess what??.. once again it didn't work. So there I am waiting for a train that I know I don't actually have a ticket for in the freezing cold! Now I know whey he didn't trust the trains to get him into London this morning for his next train out to Bristol! All the time I was sat in the shelter, all I was thinking is that this time last week I was on a cruise and how I wished I was still there. And looking at your photos of the lovely photo girls from our cruise, yourself and Jackie and the familiar faces of the entertainment department just makes me wish I was still there with you all.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know that apparently Cadburys creme eggs were on sale (according to mother) on boxing day. I noticed the local garden centre is geared up for Easter too on my visit today. The other big thing in the shops too is Valentines. Tom and I have been married 30 years in Feb, which is always a very expensive time of year for flowers!

Well tomorrow I will be here to look at the webcam! Hope the commodore has it switched on ;-o)

I'm enjoying this cruise already!! Even if I am sat in my living room!! You see, I'm getting in practice for the 2011 worldie when I and my better half will be on Arcadia, until she sails into Hong Kong that is!! So carry on enjoying youselves and look after Arcadia for us.
