Marco Pierre White, Mike Monahan P&O Cruises Culinary Manager and Eldon D'Silva - Oceana's Executive Chef.
.
Hello Everyone,
.
Just recently we had Marco Pierre White on board. Marco has one Restaurant on board Oceana - Marco Pierre White Cafe Jardin - just at the top of our Atrium. Marco has other Restaurants in the P&O Cruises Fleet and you can find out more at http://www.pocruises.com/dining
We all enjoy having celebrities on board and although Marco was on board to test out recipes for new dishes he was very gracious to passengers who asked him to have a photograph or sign their books!

Here is an extract from MPW's book - Great British Feast.
Marco Pierre White was born in Leeds in 1961. After training with the likes of Michael Lawson, Albert Roux, Nico Ladenis, Pierre Koffman and Raymond Blanc, he opened Harveys, which became the most talked about restaurant in the late eighties. It won him two Michelin stars.
He went on to build a gastronomic empire which included The Canteen, The Mirabelle, Quo Vadis , Criterion , Restaurant Marco Pierre White at the Hyde Park Hotel, and the Oak Room. He inspired award- winning chefs including Gordon Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal and Jean- Christophe Novelli.
In 1999 he retired from the kitchen and handed back his three Michelin stars, but he continues to launch restaurants. Recent ventures include Frankie Dettori, as well as Luciano, with Sir Rocco Forte, and the Yew Tree Inn near Newbury in Berkshire, which inspired many of the recipes in this book. He has worked with ITV on Hell’s Kitchen and his new TV series, Marco’s Great British Feast, and is about to star in a new show for NBC in America – Chopping Block.
Everyone enjoyed having our Celebrity Chef Marco Pierre White on board and let's hope it is not too long before Marco is back on board OCEANA!
All good wishes,
James.
If you can't stand the heat - get out of the kitchen.

Hi James
Nice reading about Marco, currently on TV we watch Heston Blumenthal every Thursday evening, it is titled Heston's Feasts he is a talented Chef who i am led to believe is self taught. So far one of the themes was set on the Titanic, then he did last night the 80s.He has also been on Master Chef Australia, where the contestants had to replicate the food he puts on the table. No easy feat as the dishes are very deceptive.
Anyway still having glorious weather here in Perth, It is the start of the Perth Royal Show tomorrow so the kids of Perth are excited, as it also signals the start of the school holidays for a couple of weeks.
Looking forward to more updates to come.
Regards to all on Oceana

Dear James,
I have just 'caught up' with the blog - I have been 'under the weather' a little but my treatment is going well and will soon be over!!
It was great to see the shots of Italy - oh how I have missed it this summer - I loved the Italian mama comment....they really do like to keep an eye on things especially if their sons are involved. Its so lovely and very family orientated.
By mid October we should be back there with all our Italian friends and then 007 says he is taking me on a cruise for a month..... the only problem is the choice of ships and where to go.....something for the next few 'cooler' evenings to occupy me!!
We hope you are keeping well James,
Love from Louise & Tony. xx

Hi James
Just checking again, and its another very interesting blog, you are so lucky to get to meet so many celebrities in your job, loved the photos of you with Marco, have to say we had the most wonderful meal in the White Room on Ventura, to say it was memorable is an understatement.
We are having a lovely time, got some really warm weather last week which was a surprise for this time of the year, but now we are back to quite cool again. Going through 50 Euros like they were £5 notes ha ha. Hope there is enough left for the Unicorn ha ha.
Look forward to hearing your next update.
Cheers
Mary K.
