Bonjour,
Brittany's rugged coastline offers a wealth of wonderful scenery, its golden beaches contrasting with picturesque fishing ports and wild, rocky headlands. The towns of Quimper, Landerneau and Guimiliau can be explored in addition to sampling the local food and wine.

Known as the coast of legends, Finistere is broken up by estuaries called 'abers', which create some wonderful scenery. When I hear the mention of Finistere it takes me back to my childhood days when I would listen to the shipping forecast on the radio wondering where all these places were in the world - it was usually after Alistair Cooke's 'letter from America'!
The city of Brest offers many sites reminiscent of its rich historic past. This was my first time to Brest - I need to get to know France better. I once enjoyed a two week holiday in La Baule on the coast near to Saint Nazaire. Very enjoyable it was too.
Quimper is a 'gem' from the midde ages with many cobbled streets and a fine Cathedral. Two rivers flow through this town - the Steir and the Odet. It took seven centuries to complete St Corentin's Cathedral. Each street is named after a trade - such as 'Shoemaker Street'.Thankfully the weather has been great and the shuttle buses on time!
Au revoir
James.
Live to study - don't study to live.

Hi James - Lovely to see your photos of Bilbao & Brest, we visited these places whilst on Oriana just a week ago, it was a really nice cruise 'a bit short left us wanting more'. They were places we had never visited before either so most enjoyable and the weather was superb which made the week wonderful

Next week...we are on Azura for that itinerary, looking forward to seeing Azura. Have been to these ports before (except Cobh)
We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of our first cruise.....the old Arcadia...loved her. Current Arcadia is my favourite ships of the 14 ships I've been on since!
Hi James
Lovely blog once again,Brest is one place i have not been to but i love the history of France and many of the European countries, especially in Summer or Autumn.
We are nearly two weeks into Spring here but there is still a nip in the air.

Great blog and photos of Brest once again James, nice to see the shot of everyone on deck enjoying the sunshine at sail away, fair puts me in the mood for the cruising life but will just have to wait patiently on January coming around and then we will be fleeing oot to join Azura when hopefully it will be great weather in the Caribbean while we will be leaving the dull and dreary winter behind in the UK.
Keep those blogs coming it fair keeps us going and is the next best thing to actually being on a cruise....
Cheers
Mary K.
