All at Sea

Hello Everyone,

Last Thursday 29 July I was on my way to my office via the open decks, the sea was so beautiful I had to grab my camera and take a few shots for the blog. We were cruising from Cartagena in Spain to Civitavecchia in Italy. Newcomers tend to book the cruises with the most ports included, however more seasoned cruisers prefer a few days at sea to relax and chill out.

The view of the wake from Promenade Deck - Deck 7 aft.

The view from Promenade Deck Starboard.

One of the many benches along the Promenade - these are used to store spare life jackets.

Just in case we have a 'man overboard'.

The Executive Purser's Office - this is where I blog from - useful for meetings and interviews.

Signing menus at the Portunus Gold Tier Lunch.

Passengers enjoying a late lunch at the Horizon Grill......on Deck 14, Deck 12 by the Riviera Bar was packed for the Fashion Show!

Relaxing in the afternoon sun......here you can see the Riviera and Crystal Pools. resting up in preparation for the Italian Ports ahead.

Since my last post we have been to Civitavecchia, Livorno and Monte Carlo with perfect summer weather all the way. Record numbers went touring to Rome and Florence, the few who were left on board had the full run of the ship to themselves.!

Today we are in Barcelona - always a firm favourite of mine. I still have some people stories to share with you so they will be on my next blog. All well here on board OCEANA, with our passengers having a fantastic summer cruise. The colour of the sea in the Mediterranean at this moment in time is just perfect! Wish you were here..............

Best wishes for the week ahead,

James.

If you want a better life you must be prepared to give up certain things: starting with excuses.

Hi James - Certainly do wish I was there and as you say us seasoned cruisers do like the sea days especially when it looks like in your photos, what a beautiful colour. Hope the sunbathers have plenty of cream on by that pool it looks heavenly!!

Hi James,

Who needs the Med in Summer, when you have Perth in Winter. We had a Glorious top of 24c today, better than an English Summer day. We are going for 23c tomorrow and about 22c on Wednesday, just perfect in paradise.

Love the photo's,the pools look inviting, but we have the Indian Ocean only 5 minutes drive away, wont be long before the beaches are crowded again, and we will all be complaining about the heat.

Regards to all on Oceana.

That's a glass sea. Wonderful we have even had one of those going through the Bay. Honest! But it is a bit surreal don't you think? Jay

What a fab photo of that flat calm sea, just as well we have a cruise booked or seeing that photo would certainly have me heading down the travel agents James.

Loved the photo of you in your office so nice to see where you are creating the brilliant blogs from.

Keep them coming

Cheers

Hi James,
I very much enjoy reading your blogs and seeing the pictures - as a poor uni student I have had to have a couple of years off cruising. I am however coming into my final year and very much interested in a career with carnival uk in a shore based position. I have seen a website that offered a graduate scheme but it has not been updated since 2008. So, do you still offer them - any advice please would be extremely helpful.
Many thanks.

Hi Tom
Thanks for your comments. At the moment there has not been a decision on whether to run the graduate programme next year, but if we do, details will feature on our recruitment sites www.oceanopportunities.com and www.pocruises.com/careers.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Hi James

I thought i would let you know we have had three glorious days in Perth with temps around 24c for three days. Why cruise the Med when you have sunny Western Australia.

Looking forward to more updates to come.

Regards to all on Oceana

Hi James,

Wow - what lovely photographs! I love Cartegena too.
We have just come back from a Cateau in France - a quick hop, skip and a jump under the sea (makes a change) and in the car avoiding traffic jams and any contamination - if you get what I mean!
Here's hoping that your cruises are going well - they certainly look and sound as if they are - have a lovely time and we look forward to more wonderful photohgraphs and some behind the scene shots.

Louise & Tony. xx

James just wanted to say a big thankyou for a great blog, My Mum is on board at the moment enjoying her very first cruise (Ellen Leatherbarrow) and reading your blog, I can be with her in spirit so to speak, I am in a wheelchair so not so easy for me to travel, but boy does it look amazing. Your photos are fantastic. WISH I WAS THERE.

Cheers Ann x

Hi James, We are joining Oceana on Saturday and this will be our 3rd time aboard. We have also cruised quite a lot on Oriana and Aurora but this year we really want to visit the fjords. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing Hamish again.
