Mr & Mrs Mugford, I’m delighted that you enjoyed your cruise on Azura and that you liked our Headliners’ Theatre Company shows. Our chosen performers work very hard to make sure each performance is up to our exacting standards, and the feedback we have been receiving from our passengers about the different groups on our ships has been extremely positive. I’m also pleased that we are often able to have all our performers up on stage for a ‘getting to know you’ hour. I think these question and answer sessions are a fun way of hearing what happens behind the scenes – something by which I think we’re all quite intrigued!
Unfortunately we’re not able to produce a dedicated DVD of the shows for copyright reasons. We can reproduce visual snippets of the shows in our ‘My cruise diary’ DVDs, but we can’t include show music. So the only way to see these shows in all their glory is, I’m afraid, to go cruising!
Sir Henry Cooper is very entertaining to listen to. Our new ’Spotlights Programme’ of talks and after dinner speakers will certainly include many such speakers, who we feel will be excellent at bringing their subject matter to life, so we hope to provide an even wider variety of talks across our cruises going forward.
Thanks for your welcome back Chris. Yes, I enjoy being able to chat about what we’re doing across P&O Cruises and hearing the questions and comments that follow. I hope you enjoyed your Oriana cruise with us. Oriana was really the start of our investment in modern day cruise ships, and with her naming by Her Majesty The Queen, she is a very special ship to us all.
Arcadia, likewise, has become a firm favourite ship for many in her own right. Being ‘Exclusively for Adults’, she attracts many people who quite often, whilst loving children, just fancy a few weeks away with adult company. In fact many of our passengers on Arcadia in July/August time are teachers having a well earned rest from the classroom. Other teachers, of course, enjoy holidays where children are on board, and we are building up our Youth Crew on our ‘Family Friendly’ ships and look forward to welcoming our young P&O Cruises passengers with their families during the school holidays.
Regarding Freedom Dining (where you can sit with a different group of people every evening and dine at different times), we now also offer this on Azura and it is certainly is a popular option there. However, we have never really been asked to provide this option on our other ships, where the Club Dining concept has proved popular. Perhaps others have views on this? We do, of course, have our Select Dining venues to give you a choice of dining location on these other ships.
So Chris, I do hope you’ll try a cruise on Azura in the not too distant future, so you can enjoy Freedom Dining there, but in the meantime Arcadia can offer you a great alternative in Arcadian Rhodes for the occasional evening.
I notice that there have been a few more comments, so I’ll get back to you shortly with responses to these.

Hi Carol and welcome back
Well I haven't looked at James's blog for ages and when I come look in I see your holding the fort (so to speak) for a couple of weeks.
I would just like to say a very big thank you for the opportunity to come to the Azura naming ceremony through my invite from the cruise connections forum. I came along with my daughter for the celebrations. Unfortunately we missed the get together that you had with the cruise connections forum members. You know what it's like when the time just runs away with you. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the festivities. I did give up my ship visit the following day but to be honest we didn't really have enough time to look around Azura properly on the Saturday so I really could have done with keeping hold of it. Still never mind, I'm sure I'll get on Azura eventually although no plans in the near future as I am now booked on Aurora for most of my main holidays (with the exception of a very short break on Ventura in September).
Well from looking at the forum, Azura seems to have gone down very well with all those who have sailed on her so far. And from the brief visit, I'm not surprised. Although the same build as Ventura, the decor is more Aurora/Oriana feel.
I see you recently spoke to some gold tier passengers on Azura. Can I ask if there are any plans to add another tier to the portunus club. I thought we were pretty loyal passengers with over 3500 points, but I am pretty sure there are passengers with plenty more than that. The gold tier does seem to be getting bigger and bigger and sometimes the whole restaurant can be full at the gold luncheon. Mind you we are usually on the popular cruises (christmas to the caribbean from Southampton and back to Southampton). If you are planning on adding another tier what sort of benefits will there be and how many points would you need to have.
Kind Regards
Elaine (aurorabore)

I hope you are enjoying doing this blog whilst James is on his well earned break. We have recently returned from Azura and whilst thoroughly enjoying our voyage I would like to think that some of the comments on the Customer Satisfaction Survey's are thought about! So as to improve the product
1 Why doesn't Azura call Pax to dinner as on the other ships? This would alleviate the problem of late arrivals on second sitting club dining?
2 We missed out on headliners shows because the show time's were changed from 11pm to 10.30pm - talking to the Purser this would be monitored on a cruise by cruise basis. For us we like 2nd sitting, with pre dinner drinks in the bar having to be dressed to go to the show at 7pm would curtail our overall enjoyment.
I would however like to share some positives Azura had a fantastic photo team, who worked hard putting together Camera Club as well as fitting in all of the photoshoots. Please can you pass on that their hardwork didn't go unnoticed.
Having the opportunity to be part of the Azura Choras was also a good additional activity ran by the Ents Officers. Previously I have only seen this type of activity on a Music festival at Sea! Well done again
So look forward to sailing again on 28th Sept 2010 on Azura and then on Aurora twice next year ( not that I am counting sleeps yet??)
We noticed the Flexicruise advertised on the P&O site and decided to get our names down for this. It has caused untold amusement with family and friends who when asking for details, we can honestly reply "Don't know when, don't know what on, and don't know where to". At our ages (late 70's) they at first thought we were mad until we filled them in. Now they think it a great idea so whoever thought up this option .. well done. We shall look forward to hearing our details of which cruise late October.
Hi Carol
Welcome back. Can i ask how the various cruises are worked out.The reason being it seems pretty unbalanced just now with 4 out of the 6 ships in Northern Waters and out of the remaining 2 only Ventura is available to families.I know school holidays are a few weeks away down south but our school summer holidays have started in Scotland and i think Ireland. It seems to me a bit of a southern bias at present and coming from Scotland the last thing i would want to do on holiday is too head further north!!.Also can you please give some thought to those that are not within a few miles of Southampton on "open days " for new ships for us it would involve a 3 day break to view,as flight connections are not always available and reliable.Thank you Carol and i wish you all at P&O a great cruising summer.Oh would it be possible to visit Oriana when she makes her maiden Scottish call at Greenock soon.
Regards

Is it not possible for P&O to base a ship in Scotland for part of their cruising season? I know that a couple of other companies do this but why not 'Britain's Leading Cruise Company'?
