Hi everyone!
Firstly, let me apologise for not posting a blog entry for the last week. As most of you know, we've just started Azura's first ever Baltic cruise, and to say that it's been busy in the Shore Excursions department is a huge understatement!
We've got a 2 day call to St Petersburg coming up this week and unless our passengers pre-organise a Russian visa in advance of joining the ship, nobody is allowed off of Azura's gangways unless they are on an organised excursion.
We've sold over 6,000 tour tickets just for these 2 Russian days alone (don't forget that we are visiting 6 other ports as well as this!), so we're working long days and enjoying absolutely no social life whatsoever. I missed the 'Welcome onboard cocktail party' AND the Portunus lunch this week and this is unheard of for me! (I always like to make time to socialise with passengers and find out how they're enjoying their cruise).
Russian authorities are very strict when it comes to people wandering into the country so we have a great deal of paperwork and administration to complete to ensure that everyone can embark on a hassle-free and enjoyable day ashore.
I've got SO much to tell you! (Jimmy James was onboard last cruise performing the most amazing shows as usual, we got heavily rained on in Kritiansand (our Norwegian forst port of call), I had 900 people in the theatre with me for my port presentation on St Petersburg (my highest recorded audience attendance to date - even beating my Panama Canal presentation in January 2010), and tomorrow we're in beautiful Tallinn in Estonia (the surprise port of call this cruise)!
I promise over the next couple of days I'll fill you in with all of the wonderful things happening on Azura. I haven't forgotten you!
Stay tuned!
Jo

Hope Azura has a good maiden voyage in the Baltics....one of my favourite itineraries!
Hi Jo Great to read your blog update. We are joining Azura in 32 days time( but who is couning) for the next Baltic cruise so it is great to hear how the current one is going. We have pre-booked Panorama of St Petersburg and the Fokelore Evening and as you seem to have been so busy I think it was a good idea.
Hope you manage to enjoy the rest of the cruise with a bit more free time. Will you still be on board in July?
Keep up the good work.

Hi Jo
It's a shame were not quite as strict in this country about who we let in! I don't think there's many Brit's that would actually want to smuggle their way into Russia - out maybe, but not in!!! Lol
Last year we did the Baltic cruise on Oriana. The weather was magnificent from the day we left Southampton to the day we got back. It wasn't Mr B's kind of holiday (far too cultural for him - he would prefer to play golf in some of the ports we visit and I banned the golf clubs)! But I loved it. Tallin is so beautiful. Very medieval.
I was too late booking tickets to the ballet. My own fault - a seasoned cruiser I really should have known better, but we weren't that early booking the cruise either. Arrghhhh well I'll just have to go and do it again one day.
(Again minus the golf clubs) ;-)
Well we've been down to Devon for the bank holiday weekend. It was warm and sometimes wet and overcast. Coming home yesterday though was wall to wall blue sky - typical! Until we got near home and then it was back to dull and overcast - typical bank holiday weather!
Looking forward to hearing more from you soon.

Hi Jo
Just returned today from 3 nights on Arcadia - we had Jimmy James on one night - talk about holding the audience in his hand - he was fantastic, the audience were very reluctant to let him go! His nifty footwork matched his singing. Out of curiosity have just `googled' him to see how old he is - he is 70 this year! He could certainly give a lot of these young singers a run for their money!
Look forward to seeing you in July
This blog seems to be dieing! Come back James or else you will only find a ghost!
