Sydney - evening sailout.

Some wonderful homes in the waters edge in Sydney Harbour.

Hello Everyone,

I do hope you enjoy these photographs of our sail out from Sydney last Wednesday evening - 24 February 2010. Sailing in and out of Sydney is something that just has to be on your list of things to do - unless of course you have already done it!

For more Sydney Harbour experiences you can always go back to 'older posts' on this blog to the 20 to 24 February 2009 when I shared some spectacular photographs of Arcadia arriving in Sydney and also of Arcadia all lit up at night in the harbour. You can also watch a video of her arrival here.

Arcadia maneuvering out of the Circular Quay berth.

Farewell to Sydney Opera House..............being a Wednesday there were not huge crowds around, as would be the case if it were the weekend.........the world over people have their work to do!

A good view of the Financial district.

The Oversea Passengers Terminal where we were berthed.

An imposing sandstone mansion surrounded by one of the oldest gardens in Australia.

The Governor's Residence.

Lots of interesting Catamarans around in the harbour to wave us farewell.

A retreat with a difference..........an impressive 18th century fort once used to isolate convicts.

Worth booking a balcony cabin just to snap the views!

When will I see you again.........?

On our way.........................

Sydney-siders love their sailing...............

Sailing our towards the heads at Port Jackson.

A last look at the Sydney skyline..........................

Almost at the Heads............

Port Jackson.

Sailing out into the open sea......................

Did you know that the recorded European discovery of this area was made by Captain Cook in 1770, although Australia's Aboriginal people had inhabited the Continent for millennial, and settled by the convict First Fleet 18 years later. Now with a population nearing four million Sydney is Australia's largest and oldest City. One thing is for sure - I hope it is not too long before I can return to Sydney. There is a 'new world' optimism here!

Best wishes,

James.

That looks very enjoyable and I look forward to experiencing it for myself next year - hopefully!

I think you're on your long stretch of sea days now before Borneo - and then us! I hope you're getting good weather, calm seas and no evidence of thw Tsunamis that seem to be everywhere just now.

See you soon.

Hi James,

Good evening to you, and all on Arcadia, hope you are having fair seas as you travel northwards.

We stopped over at Kota Kinabalu on our way to Cebu this time only at the airport, but as you fly in the seas are very clear and Azure. Kota is a popular place in the last 10 years or so with Australians as it is one of the gateways to Borneo.

Take care looking forward to more updates to come.

Regards to all on Arcadia

Help for 2 ex-cruise ship employees!!

Hello James,
I love your blog. As someone that worked onboard ships in the past years it is a great way for me to relive my “prime!”

I am reaching out to see if you could help out my fiance and I that met while working onboard cruise ships. She was the Chief Purser and me the Shore Excursion Manager!! I am sure you have heard that story before!! LOL After attempts to stay on the same ship and the constant moving around we ended our time on ships (reluctantly) and have since started another chapter on land!

We recently entered a contest to win the wedding of our dreams, a $100,000 wedding to be exact! The catch is we need people to vote for our profile. Voting only takes a minute…click on vote, enter your email and a password, then check your email to confirm your vote. Can you please help us get the vote out?!! I thought your blog and your readers would be a great way to help us get to where we need to be. True Love can be found on Cruise Ships and I think your readers will love our story. Please check out the link below!!

Thanks for your time!! We really appreciate any help that you can provide!!

Regards and safe sailing,
Michael Greco
