Sihanoukville Cambodia

Wish you were here? Life's a beach.!

Cheeky monkey................
Another day..................
Lots to see.........
A peaceful moment......

Hello from Lauren our Hotel Cadet who is currently working on our Reception Desk.

Good Day Everyone,

On Tuesday 16 March Arcadia was alongside in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining all the way. Sihanoukville is also known as Kampong Som and is a popular beach resort, with lots of building work and developing going on. We ran two excursions, one to visit the local area and one to Sokha Beach Resort. It was a very laid back sort of a day.

Banners of Welcome on the quayside as Arcadia puts out her ropes.

Assistant Shore Excursions Manager Zoe sees that all arrangements are in place with our Tour Agent.

Colourful drapes on the coaches.

Meantime back on board Robin and Linda enjoy a game of Shuffle Board - a traditional leisure pursuit on board ships.

'Down below on Deck A our buffet carver is hard at work creating unusual displays for our passengers to enjoy in The Belvedere.

It is amazing what you can do with a few vegetables - well done to Larry. Larry also does wonders with a block of ice to create magical Ice Carving displays.

Laundry Master Kedar Bhave and Assistant Laundry Master Gideon Menbonsa keep Arcadia's Laundry in action with their superb team of Laundrymen.

Freshly washed sheets are fed into the huge calender - a large ironing machine which dries and presses at the same time.

That's it for now, in the morning we will be arriving in Singapore. I have some good photographs from last Wednesday when we were in Laem Chabang in Thailand - this is the port for Shore Excursions to Bangkok. Yesterday we ran a boating operation into Ko Samio, also in Thailand.

The Tai people as so welcoming and friendly. Singapore is always a highlight port and we have just under 200 passengers changing over.

Singapore is a small turnaround for us, but a busy one for the Administration Department as all passengers and crew have to carry their passports ashore and then hand them in when finally returning on board so as they can be stamped 'out' by Singapore Immigration Officials. We were fortunate to have the Officials travel with us from Ko Samui to complete the inward clearance on board Arcadia.

Best wishes meantime from the Arcadians.
James.

Hi James,
I wish I could carve the vegetables like that for my buffets!!!! Have a lovely time in Singapore, another one on my wish list.Just a little correction, they were playing shuffle board on deck not deck quoits(which I love to play)How pedantic was that!!!
Off to Geneva in the morning, but look forward to photos of Singapore next week on our return

Hi James,

Good afternoon to you in wet Singapore i was looking at the webcam earlier and thought it was damp looking, i see you are in Singapore with two Costa ships the Classica, behind you and the Allegra somewhere else.
Enjoy Port Kelang tomorrow.

Hopefully you got to have a Singapore sling today, and maybe tinkle the ivories at the Raffles.
I remember the great photo's last year from Singapore.

Regards to all on Arcadia

My son Wayne is a jazz pianist with a small band on your cruise ship the Arcadia, its his first time on a cruise ship so we hope he is enjoying his adventure. The band plays in the ball room i think. Wayne is a renowned jazz musician, if you get a chance have a chat with him and tell him his family send all their love, a photograph of Wayne would be good to see on your wonderful blog, many thanks and we hope to be at the dock to meet you all in Southampton. thankyou so much Brian McConnell
