Muscat - Oman

Arcadia makes her approach to the exciting Port in Muscat - Oman.

Good Day Everyone,

Muscat is the capital and largest city in the Sultanate of Oman, and independent state in the Southeast corner of the Arabian Peninsular. The city is located on the Arabian Sea, is also the financial and economic centre of the country.

Once alongside it was time to get our shore excursions on the move. Over 700 passengers on Tour A.....................

The guides all lined up to meet and greet in their traditional dress.

Going around the world there is so much variety as you said from one country to the next. Only two days ago we were in India - now Oman.

Arcadian's are in town....................

Jackie keeps a watchful eye on logistics......

Pictured here with Jack and Ann Tubby along with Kevin Oprey - Staff Captain. Ann is all wrapped up as she is off to visit the Mosque.

John and Rosemary join the photo shoot!

This is the Terminal Building.
It is only a short bus ride into the centre of Town where there are lots of shops.

A call to prayer..............

See Arcadia in the background. Apparently this cream coloured ship is the support ship for the Sultan's Yacht.............

Style everywhere...............

Take a look.................good price...............

Add Image Interesting architecture...........beautifully clean streets............

Fancy a hat?

There was an air of excitement.............

This man was selling the scents that you burn - I bought some to put on the BBQ after cooking - a good tip from Kevin Oprey..................

Silk silk and more silk..............

High on tradition.........................

Intriguing little side streets...............

The arrival at the Sultan's Palace................has to be seen to be believed...........

I love a good entrance - doorways that make their mark............

Guess who?!

Marble and Granite everywhere...............

Beautifully manicured gardens...............

The main entrance to the Sultan's Palace..........

Kevin and James on tour............

Mr Reddy - our minder!

Lots of colour......

There is a 'feel good factor' here........

Detail detail detail..................
There must be many people employed to keep this place looking this good........

Where did your walk take you today?........................with P&O Cruises - every day is different.
On your bike mate............

A special 'hello' to Bond and M...............................................................................

Tomorrow we will be in Dubai where we are changing over 400 passengers, and taking on 8 containers of stores. Let's hope it will be a nice day and not like last year when Arcadia experienced a sand storm and the ship was covered with fine sand all over!

Thank you for all your messages,

Best wishes,

James.

The larger the island of knowledge,
the longer the shoreline of wonder.

Wow, what fantastic photos again, the place is so clean and manicured, another one for my wish list!!!
Have a good day in Dubai, it's where Peris & I will be going to next year to get my ruby ring for our anniversary. 40 years, just can't believe it!!! I had a diamond ring from there last year!!
you know what they say about a girls best friend. It's certainly true where I'm concerned.
Looking forward to seeing your photographs from there.
Until then,look after yourself.

Hi James

Great set of photo's again, Muscat is a place on the to do list.

Have a good day in Dubai, hope you don't encounter any sand storms, my niece will be there today just in transit on the way back to the UK.

HI Elaine

Glad you had a great cruise, where you have your cabin does make a difference for sure, as when we were on Arcadia, when they would be practicing in the Palladium you could hear it from our cabin.
That is a lot of chocolate you purchased, i think most people do enjoy chocolate, and the experts nowadays say it is good for us?

regards to all Arcadia

Lovely photos if only we could have stayed on until Dubai, then I would have been saying if only I could have stayed until Southampton. Say hi to Gill if you see her.

Wow, what a great article and pics of the Tech Dept of Arcadia - the engines are awesome. Great to see something we never normally see in brochures etc; more pics would be most welcome.
