Cultural Experience in Honolulu

Can we do it? YES WE CAN!

Good Day Everyone,

What a positively stunning start to our cultural tour in pictures.

Spirit of Hawaii - Seventy four of our passengers went to the Polynesian centre located in La'ie. (North of the Island). All our passengers loved it and from the following photographs you can see why.

As the passengers sat back and relaxed the beautiful scenery of this stunning island unfolded before them. Passing by the Royal Palace, the only one of its kind in the States, a stop was then made at the Pali Lookout, for fantastic views over pineapple fields, North shore and Waimea Bay.

The Mormon Temple, a shimmering white building, said to be the best example in the Pacific could also be seen.

Travelling on through the lush countryside of Polynesia a stop was then made at The Polynesian Centre. Here our passengers enjoyed a display of song, dance and lifestyle from seven South Pacific cultures. It was unrepeatable opportunity to meet the real people of Samoa, Hawaii, Marquesas, Tonga, New Zealand, Tahiti and Fiji.

All this culture and a delicious Polynesian Lunch as well - what more could you ask for?

Hawaii is very popular with surfers - indeed it is believed that this is where surfing originated, as fishermen needed a method of getting quickly and easily back to the shore. When you look at these two photographs you can see why surfing is still a popular sport today.

Isn't it interesting to note that Hawaii a State of America still keeps the Union Jack as part of it's state Flag.

Merle from Brisbane in Australia wishes to say Hi to you all - you can read Merle's story detailing how she and her husband and six month old baby drove from Southampton to Sydney in a transit van in one my Grand Voyage 2009 blogs.

Wide open palm tree lined Highways.

This could be YOU...........

Ladies and Gentlemen, whoever you are, wherever you may be, thank you for coming on this tour with me..

Bye for now,

James.

Dance then wherever you may be for I am the Lord of the Dance said he.

The colours are so bright and vibrant - it must be very clear there. Wonderful! It really does make you think you're there.

I have a shopping trip this morning - more things to take away - so I hope the snow doesn't arrive just yet. I so envy you the warmth - I'm fed up of this winter and yearn for sunny, warm days. Not long now......

Hi James,

Wow spectacular photo's once again, for me perhaps the best so far this trip, really colorful. Although the others run very close behind.

Had to load another P&O web site this morning, but still it is working got to look at some of the webcams.

Sometimes i can load my blog account most times i cant for whatever reason.

Did you know Hawaii is the only state that has the Union Jack on it.

Enjoy Apia.

Just a quickie

I use this site to look at the webcams:-

http://www.kroooz-cams.com/POindex.html

They also have a section on port cams too. Excellent little site.

I think the capt needs to organise for the webcam to be wiped over on Arcadia. It's very murky at the minute (I guess it could be condensation)!

Wow, wow, wow

I am speechless James. These photos are beautiful. The colours are so vibrant. The weather looks amazing. Snowed again yesterday here. Thankfully only a light dusting - a bit like icing sugar ;-0)

Gosh I can't stop looking at the photos. They are stunning. YES I wish I was there ;-0)

I can't believe how quiet the roads look.

It's a shame you only spend a day in some of these places. A couple of days would be nice.

Looking forward to some photos of Christmas Island. Was it a bit like a castaway island?
