Tallinn - Estonia

The City of Tallinn comes into view as Arcadia approaches her berth.

Arcadia securely alongside. The weather is holding up well for us.

Lots of flower shops on the approach to the old city centre.

Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm in Tallinn, where are you?

Lots to see!

Anyone for a refreshment?
More great architecture and interesting shops to browse.

The main square with Molly Malone's straight ahead!

Not as many people in town today............it was a Monday and we were the only ship in port.

A good view of the town hall.
I would love to see it all decorated for Christmas - must be fairytale!

Arcadia is doing a Christmas Markets Cruise in December..................

See the thickness of the City Walls..............

Trailers for sale or rent! This is Volvo truck - American style for all my trucker readers!!

Arcadia prepares for departure - two days at sea ahead and next port Oslo.

The mooring team get set for letting go the ropes................

Hello Everyone,

We enjoyed our call at Tallinn last Monday, since then we have been at sea for two days, arriving in Oslo on Thursday. The sea has been kind and the sun continues to shine! This morning on my rounds of the open decks I met Jan Leeming! You just never know who you are going to speak to next when you work on board the ship. We had a great chat and an obligatory photo for the blog, so more to follow!! This has been a steady day on board just keeping everything up to date and ready for handing over at Southampton. I have already been planning and discussing the final details for the Christmas Cruise and the Round World Cruise 2010 - this is how far ahead we need to plan on board. Commodore Steve Burgoine and Chief Engineer Angus MacDonald are also going on leave at Southampton so there is a change in Deck, Engine and Hotel Departments...Captain Ian Walters returns from leave along with Chief Engineer David Jewkes and Executive Purser Peter Thomas.

Thanks for all your messages - it has been great fun replying to them.
Best wishes meantime,

James.

Morning James

Breakfast time again! Late today though! Even though I was up early!

Preparing for christmas already!!! Yippeeeeeee - hope you've got lots of surprises in store for us??? Do tell me as I am really worried about the christmas experience on an adult only ship. Do you have santa coming down the funnel, a carol concert etc??? We have always been on the family friendly ships at christmas and there is always a wonderful atmosphere. I am guessing though that you will not have the panto's etc which katch 22 put on, on the family friendly ships???

It is going to be really odd for me. My son refuses to come away with us and DD will be working as you know! We usually have all 4 of us together at xmas plus my BIL, SIL and niece. We go from being 7 to 2!!!!!!!! I hope I don't get too emotional!!! :-0( DD is looking forward to christmas day though!! We know that we will not be having lunch with her as she will be busy elsewhere, but we are hoping to book Gary Rhodes for dinner on christmas day evening (again something we've never done before - eaten alternatively on either Oriana/Aurora, as I love my xmas day dinner in the main restaurant)! I assume she will be allowed to join us, as we've requested a table for 2 in the main dining room and I know there will be no extra room for her to join us on that having had them before! Guess we'll know more once we get onboard!

It's 13 weeks tomorrow until we get onboard. I'm on weight watch countdown! Hoping I'll be able to fit more gym sessions in too once N gets back to work! I have lots of lovely dresses and don't want to struggle to get in them!

Does the commodore come back in time for christmas too??

Elaine (aurorabore)

Ps, love the Tallinn photos. I've got very similar ones too! DD and I went to a torture equipment exhibition! It's a lovely picturesque isn't it??

Good Morning Elaine,

Don't worry I was here for Christmas 2007 and it was Fab! We had Santa coming out of the funel and Carols galore, festive decorations (tasteful), and all the trimmings............just unpack and enjoy. I did play for the Midnight servce to help out, so I am sure I will get a job this year also. I love playing the Christmas music. Commodore Steve Burgoine will be on board.

Have a good day,
James

Tallin looks really delightful and Oslo is a particular favourite of mine. I hope you are having a good day there.

Now about the 2010 World Cruise - will you be on board, James? Will the Commodore? Tony and I are joining at Hong Kong and on until Southampton. He celebrates his - shhhhhhhh don't tell anyone his - 60th on board, in the Bay by my reckoning. I suspect a little party may be happening in E180 that evening! So please can you make sure there is plenty of bubbly still available by that late stage of the voyage :-)

HI James,

Good Afternoon, hope your having a nice day in Oslo, the weather looks kind today.

Well this is early but have a great leave. Also when you return on the 18th of Dec, to all on board have a very merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. When you return we will already be on our vacation in sunny Cebu via KL.So will be out of touch until early January. Xmas cruises are fun for all on board, but they is a lot that goes on to get it all running smoothly.

I might occasionally take a sneak peek while up in the P.I. but when i am on leave i like to switch off and relax, we will be doing a bit of Island hopping, catching up with family and friends, and sinking a few icy cold San Miguel's.

The countdown has begun we have booked for the Artemis, so we will look forward to cruising again with p&O.When back off leave i will tell you our cruise and destination.

Wishing all the avid blog followers a Merry Xmas and a Happy New year.

Talk to you in 2010

Hi to Steve Mitchell.

Take care regards Geoff and Julieta Witts Perth
