James likes to know all that is going on!.............what a spectacular Bridge Team we have on board. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
Catching up on the morning's business with Commodore Steve Burgoine.
Lots of commercial shipping to see - it always makes me thankful that I work on the beautiful big white ships of P&O Cruises...........
Hello Everyone,
I do hope that you feel as if you have been on board with us going below the Oresund Bridge!
Here is Kathryn's broadcast - our Port Presenter,
Ă–resund Bridge
Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen,
This is your port presenter, just to give you a few words on the bridge that we are currently passing under. The Ă–resund Bridge or the sound bridge as it is sometimes called, links Denmark to southern Sweden and it crosses the strait by the same name. Construction began in 1995, the last section was finished on August 14th 1999 and the bridge finally opened in July 2000, with Queen Margrethe II and King Carl Gustaf present at the inauguration. The bridge spans 5 miles from Lernacken in Sweden to the artificial island of Peberholm in Denmark – The bridge stops here and the link continues via a 2.5 mile long tunnel leading to Copenhagen’s international airport. Its total length is 7,845 metres and has a clearance of 57 meters. The bridge has one of the longest cable-stayed main spans, in the world at 490 meters. The highest part of the bridge rests on 4 pylons, each 204 meters high and roadway is about 30 meters across. Since the bridge opened there has been a rapid increase of traffic, as many Danes now live in Sweden and commute to Copenhagen. That’s all from me, but I hope you all have a lovely day, on board the Arcadia.
ends.

Another lovely day on board the lovely Arcadia it seems. I do envy you being on board such a wonderful ship and the sense of freedom you must feel you have - despite being "at work".
Nevertheless, everyone needs time off, and I really hope you get to enjoy your relaxation when you get home.
I'm delighted to hear you'll be on board in March and look forward to saying hello then - although I'm pretty certain we did meet once, briefly, on J706, when a group of 12 of us, from the then P&O Cruise Connections, did the repositioning cruise from Barbados back to Southampton - happy days and a fab cruise.
Best wishes
Gill
I remember passing under that bridge on Oriana and thinking we were going to hit it! As it was we missed it with plenty of room to spare!
The weather look lovely James. Looks like you have been as lucky with the weather as we were James.
Well DD has done some packing! 3 suitcases so far with still some clothes to pack :-0) Hope she can fit it all in!!!
Well strictly started tonight James. Don't know if your into ballroom dancing or not! I would love to learn to dance properly. OH and I tried it once, but me being only 5ft tall and he 6ft it just didn't work for us. He wasn't very gentlemanly and would not accommodate his stride for mine, so I was always playing catch up!! I wonder if the dance classes on our Xmas cruise will clash with one of his favourite activities (cricket)! If not I may drag him along!!!!

G'Day James,
Hope all is well just had to comment on the last couple of blogs, the buildings in Estonian are beautiful the architecture is magnificent, also the bridge both of them are good, the Oresund and the Bridge i like the officers of the watch, i must make comment that Simon does look like you have you been told that before, if so i guess you would like a Pound for every time that has been said. I had to look twice to make sure it was not you.
Anyway have a superb leave, looking forward to catching the next installments when you return from leave. Will blog again next year when i get back from overseas.
Best regards Geoff and Julieta Witts Perth
