Messina Straits Transit.

Arcadia sails on! This panoramic picture was taken from the Forecastle Deck!

Hello Everyone,

Enjoy this picture gallery from the Messina Straits. Since then I have been out with the blog camera in Dubrovnik which was a perfect day if ever there was one, and also in Venice so lots more to come over the weekend. This is better than the Sunday supplements!

A local ferry - lots of them around.

These Pylons are no longer used as the cables are now under the ground however they are preserved as monuments to the past.

The town of Messina. It is a lovely place to wonder around and there is a magnificent Cathedral there - something to enjoy if you are on a Cruise holiday that calls there. We were just passing by on this voyage to Venice.

Old meets new - the ferry and the hydrofoil.

The Messina Pilot Boat. It is always interesting to watch the Pilot hop on and off the ship via a rope ladder.
The Reggio to Messina Hydrofoil.

' From a distance' - I feel a song coming on......................

A close up shot of a pylon. Glad it is not in my back garden!

Sicily.

A product tanker. Some of these ships only have 10 people on board - wouldn't be for me....

Cape Pe Loro.

Tim on the Arcadia Bridge.

My thanks to Tim Corthorn - Third Officer. Tim lives in North Kent, England. Tim has been with P&O Cruises for five years, starting at Plymouth University, where he gained his Bachelor of Science Degree. Tim also presents the Virtual Bridge Tour in The Palladium Theatre which is a big hit with our passengers.

Enjoy your Bank Holiday Weekend and thank you for all your messages recently - they keep this blog alive and so good to have our regular 'celebrity guest bloggers' back in the fold. Elaine - you never know how much your breakfast comments were appreciated until now! Welcome back Jay also and thanks to Geoff in Perth WA for flying the flag down under. There are a few questions and queries than need answering and I will get to these over the weekend.

More soon,

James.

James remember when we used to transit Messina on the "Bogey" and you always thought that those Twin Goalpost funnels were going to hit the pylons.

Hello James

May I congratulate you on a superb blog. I am the mother of Martin Rowe (Entertainments Officer) and had the pleasure of cruising with you to Norway on 31st July. A lady I met on board told me about your blog and I am now an avid fan. It is my way of seeing what Martin is seeing. It was lovely to see a couple of photos of him in the blog. Keep up the good work. Best regards Mary Rowe
