Good Day and greetings from our
cruise to Geiranger in Norway. One of my favourite places and somewhere you must always pop ashore for a walk up the mountain and breathe in the air while reflecting
on the wonder of creation! We got away promptly from Stavanger and the weather was with us so we arrived on good time in Geiranger - this gave us a leisurely start to the day and also allowed a number of passengers to get ashore before we commenced the tours disembarkation using our ship's tenders. These little 'ducklings' always add to the sense of adventure to the day!!

Perfect boating conditions and a large dockside to work with provided Arcadia with a seamless boating operation for which she is renowned. The views from the glass tower lifts today in the blue staircase mid ships were just awesome. Many people were just travelling up and down to enjoy the view!!

Here is one for my 'Vintage Fans' - how do you like my tractor? Hello to Miles, Benny, Sam and all the gang! See you back on board soon!! James E - is is time you and 'Parcel force' joined us for a Cruise along with 'Green grass'!!

Meet our new blog associate Mr Raymond Walsh - our esteemed Accommodation Services Manager. Many of you will know Raymond as he has served on board right across the P&O Cruises Fleet. Raymond was the blog photographer for the day! In his past life Raymond was a Manager at the corner ship in Knightsbridge where they specialise in green carrier bags - I am sure you know the one I mean?.......... Raymond has a keen eye for detail and there is never a dull moment. We refer to Raymond affectionately as ' Father Ted'. Hello to the Duchess if you are tuned in to the blog!! It is a joy to have Raymond join the Arcadia Team, and we have many a laugh.

An unusual view of the indulgent Arcadia. No we did not try to sail up stream - even with Commodore Burgoine on board...........

Here is one for all your caravan enthusiasts - Hello to my dear friends Cyril and Mary B. - when they are not on the P&O Cruises ships they are out and about in their Avondale. I met some good friends of theirs last cruise and they brought me back the 'Cusick Crest' from their travels ashore in Cobh - I am sure they will be knocking on Cyril and Mary's front door soon! They have these caravan and camping parks in the most amazing places with the best views in town.

Arcadia - at home the world over - happily basking in the afternoon sun in Geiranger.
Norway is such a good cruise destination for rest and relaxation. Wish you were here?

There's an old log cabin for sale...........

Lots of spectacular waterfalls to enjoy on the sail out - one Fjord - many falls..
Meet Antonio and Hillary - I bumped into them at sail way - we dined together last year in the Meridian and had such a good time. Antonio has a great voice and sings many songs from the opera which are a hit with the late night diners! The Italians know how to do it!! This is the great joy of my job - you just never know who you are going to see in the course of a day.

Katrina and Shanks scouting the sail away for photo shots with our fun loving public.

Hello Sailor! Cheeky............

I just managed to capture the last flag coming down at the Great British Sail away. What a backdrop for a party.

And so Geiranger we say good bye from Arcadia for another year.

Old friends, new friends, odd friends - it is all going on..........
I do hope you enjoy these photographs and that you catch a glimpse of the beautiful day the Arcadians enjoyed in Geiranger. Norway really is a special place on earth.
All good wishes,
James.
I am not here to think, but to breathe, feel and live!

Hi James
Another brilliant blog and the photos are fantastic, makes me want to go and book a cruise to Norway next year, as its a few years now since we have done one. Talking about caravans, we are also caravanners, wished we had known Cyril and Mary B. were at the Gold Tier luncheon we could have all bored you to tears talking caravans LOL....
Cheers
Mary K.

Hi James,
We are glad to see/hear that all is well with you.
The photographs of Norway look fantastic - I really like the ones that look as if you are moored up in the River Severn or some other inland stream!!
We are still here in sunny (and very hot!) Italy! We went to Venezia for 4 nights last Wednesday and saw some amazing sights with 4 cruise ships sailing in and up the Canale della Giudecca - no P & O ships but I see that we just missed Arcadia by a couple of weeks. That must have been amazing!!
All the very best for the summer and your next "stint" on board - perhaps we will see you in Livorno?
Love from Louise & Tony. xx
we have just returned from Arcadia in the fjords J911, what a wonderful cruise it was for my husbands
70th birthday made and was made extra special by Carl Luxford who was dining on our table, Thanks Carl. I would also like to thank the Headliners for such wonderful shows in the Palladium, well done all.
Hi James,
We were also on J911 and had a wonderful time. We met Antonio and Hillary in the Crows nest the evening we left Flam. They were a lovely couple. Hilliary had taken a photograph of us at the Great British sailaway because we had brought our own Welsh flags!!
I can't stop looking at your blog and wishing we were still on board! How good to read Maggie's message. She's right we all had a great time on tabel 108 last year just as we did last year with Maggie, Paul, Beckie, Mark, Jenny & Barry! Maggie & Paul, have a great time in the Med.
Hilary & Antonio
