Greetings from Iceland!

Arcadia alongside her berth at Akureyri.

Good Day Everyone,

Greetings from Arcadia in Iceland! It is great to be back on board Arcadia feeling refreshed and rested after a most enjoyable leave. I joined at Stavanger in Norway, flying from London Heathrow via Amsterdam with KLM – all timings were good and I had a most enjoyable journey.

You never know who you bump into down town in Akureyri.....

It is exciting to catch up with my on board family once again, seeing so many happy faces both passengers and ship’s company. It seems an age now since the Grand Voyage and all the tales we had to tell. It was hard to come down to earth after the Grand Voyage as we had so much excitement along the way. However after a week of rest and relaxation I was busy about home visiting family and friends and catching up with my garden!! Yes I do cut the grass myself!

Morning Coffee time with the locals.

This Cruise has an interesting itinerary as the first port of call was Zeebrugge, then up to Norway calling at Stavanger, Eidfjord, Bergen and Alesund. After a sea day last Thursday we sailed into Iceland calling at Akureyri and today we are alongside in Reykjavik. It is a lovely sunny day but chilly outside. There are over 1500 passengers on tour today so it has been busy at the gangways. Looking ahead we have two sea days and then we visit Ireland, calling at Dublin and Cobh. Then it is back to our home port Southampton. It is amazing just how excited many people are that we are to visit Ireland on the ship. I have not called at Dublin by ship before so I am as excited as everyone else about this!

The Airport landing strip viewed from the port side as we sailed out of Akureyri.

Congratulations to Justin Cohen for his excellent blogging from Ventura.

I hope you are enjoying the summer whatever you may be up to.

Best wishes meantime,
James.

Good times are even better when they are shared.

Hi James
Nice to hear you are back from your long vacation in Co Antrim. This is Ray and Anne Spence from Lisburn, we have met about a dozen times before and each time we meet we feel at home. Its nice to hear from all your visits too far away places. We are hoping to book another cruise on Arcadia for 2010/11, however this will depend on where the cruises are going as we would love to visit South America/Antartica, eastern Seaboard of USA/Canada and Australia (but not at once).

Ray and Anne

Hi Louise and Tony,

Great to be back - you know I love this ship - but missing you - I will get to Italy one of these days if you do not get to Arcadia first!

All good wishes,
James.
