Tug of War at Safaga

If a job is worth doing it is worth doing right! Gary Glading our Cruise Director - shaking hands on the fact that all our passengers are now back on board safe and well. Better still they had a great day.
Michelle Ambrose our Assistant Front of House Manager and Gary.

It was a long day for the tourists however all filing on board now. Arcadia is such a welcome sight to see after you have been out for a day trip.

A lady passenger feeds the dogs! It was like 101 Dalmatians! Passengers were amused by the dogs and many were saying that much, and although they have enjoyed their Voyage they were looking forward to getting back home to see their pets! Understandably so....

The convoy returns.

Helen, Michelle and Simon. Simon had just returned as a Tour Escort so we were getting the low down on how the day went. Passengers love to see our P&O Cruiese Officers on patrol, adding style and glamour to any occasion, and getting the work done at the same time.

Michelle and Mario hold the fort at the Reception Desk.

Anil always has a smile at the Gangway!

Mad dogs and English men out in the mid day sun!

Anyone got any food for me?

The Arcadia Fishing Team at the aft end!

Some local ferries to our aft end!

The Technical team get to grips with the tug of war competition.

CPO and his men carry on painting the ship regardless!

The Orchid girls get in position!

Evelyn, Paddy and Doreen join in the fun - they were just returning from a fabulous outing to the local Holiday Inn where they had been swimming and enjoyed a lunch ashore - all Grand Voyagers! Great fun to be around these folks! Evelyn's husband John enjoyed a restful day on board Arcadia and we spotted him on the ship's rail waiting for them to return.

Pull harder boys!

Helen Skoins our Passenger Services Manager adding style to the occasion and supporting her team.

Carl Luxford (2nd from left) and his Back of House Food and Beverage Team. Carl was with us at the beginning of the Grand Voyage as Food and Beverage Manager and left us at Singapore (1). When Stephanie went home for her sister's wedding we were delighted that Carl was able to join us in Dubai for this last leg of the GV - as our Deputy F&B Manager.

Stuart and Marie Carr from Yorkshire enjoy the fun - I have met them on endless cruises.

The Deck team get into position!

Commodore Steve Burgoine with Dorothy and Beryl. Dorothy wishes to send best wishes to all her family and friends back in Much Hoode in Preston. We are having a wonderful holiday says Dorothy....

A friendly wave from Brian Swift on the Promenade Deck - also a Grand Voyager. The decks were lined with spectators.

The Restaurant Team take position - it is amazing what you can do with those marigolds!!!

Martyn Elliott Chief Engineer was the judge and jury! Sorry he has his back to us!

Great for crew morale.

Hello Again,
My thanks to Dean Rice our Ventilation Officer who organised a Tug of War competition for the Ship's Company. Congratulations to the Technical Team who won! There was a lot of cheering and shouting encouragement and it was light hearted all round. A good fun afternoon. We don't do this very often, just on days like this where there is a suitable dockside and a quiet day on board the vessel.
Great to have everyone back safe and well after their excursions and at 0700 hours in the morning we will sail from Safaga. I got a lot of clearing out done today so all in all a very productive one!
Bye for now,
James.
Friendship is happiness, happiness is awareness, awareness is friendship.

It's wonderful to see that the crew can have some fun too after all their hard work. Thank you for sharing that with us.

Dear James,

Tug O' War - Great for staff morale as you say and great for us "little bloggers" to see! Where was your team?
Nice to see The orchid girls - they are such strong little things both in body and mind. We were amazed by their stories about leaving families and friends to go and work abroad & full of admiration as they work so hard to make their lives back home much better sacrificing family life and time with their children - amazing.
We hope the passage through the Suez canal went well and look forward to the pictures of Egypt both in Luxor & Cairo.
I have just got back after my first Pizza & small glass of a nice Tuscan red since being back in Tuscant. I am bracing myself for a tough day in the office tomorrow & bid you night night although I suspect that there are still a few good parties to be had on Arcadia before she slips into Southampton Water!!
Love to you james, Bill & Debby, Alison & brian & John & Pauline - if they are stowed away somewhere.

Louise & tony. xxx
