Sailing from Xingang

The Great Wall of China - this photograph taken today.

Hello Again,

Just in case you are following my blog and only checking the most recent postings, then you need to skip back a couple of posts and see the additional blog on Nagasaki, more photos! Hope you enjoy these.

I had the most memorable day here in Xingang, my excursion to the Great Wall of China - at Huangyaguan was just fab. The weather was perfect for touring, blue skies and great vision. Not a drop of rain, as we approached the Great Wall I saw something I have never seen before - in mid day sunshine - a reservoir frozen over. Also on the side steps of the great wall there was ice and snow, yet for us Arcadians we were basking in the sun.
I have loads of photographs which I look forward to sharing with you. There is nothing more exciting than a full day tour, especially with a group of 40 others, great camaraderie, from the buzz of getting off the ship and meeting your tour guide to the arrival at the destination. The lunch, the walk, the social at the 'monument' and what is almost relief when it is all over and we can snooze on the coach on the way back to port, knowing that our ship is waiting for us. Everyone has their own idea of what makes a special day, a memory that will last for a lifetime, and between us all today there was much to talk about, to ponder, to enjoy!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I will get another blog out soon on the Great Wall of China.
Standing on the Great Wall and looking out from the Towers - it gives you a new prospective on life. With all those steps to climb it was good for the mind, body and soul.................

Bye,
James.

Thank you James for such wonderful photo's it brought back lovely memories of our visit to Japan on Aurora's RWC several years ago now.

Lucky you visiting the Great Wall how wonderful that must have been I'm green with envy here.

The Japanese Traditional Drummers played for us before and as we sailed wow what energy they have.

Looking forward to the next update, keep them coming.

James,
How wonderful all of the photographs of Japan are - thank you for sharing them with us.

What an adventure The Grand Voyage is.....never ending story ...(I can feel a song coming on...)

It is always a priviledge to visit places like Magasaki which are so important in our worlds history, often very moving but compulsive. The photographs of The Great Wall will be wonderful especially as you were blessed with such fantastic weather.
Don't worry about the effort it took to climb all those steps... I always say "I'm in shape"...well "round" is a shpae James isn't it?!!!

Enjoy your journey to Shanghai - we have a man in Shangai...!

With love from Louise & Tony.
