Meet Jane - a Star if ever there was one!Good Day everyone,
These are not your average cleaning ladies that come in three times a week and leave your house smelling of bleach, ammonia and if your lucky an Alpine mist!!
The cleaning ladies on board the Arcadia are known as Cabin Stewardess and will clean up your cabin with military precision twice a day, every day of the week. They are on duty before the first passengers are out for their early morning stroll, and leave the decks only after you have left your stateroom for that glamorous dinner date or the Chef’s special Indian curry dinner.

Emma adds the finishing touch for a surprise Birthday Party!
You see them in the alleyways with their Maid's carts all stocked up and ready to get started. They are ever so polite and always smiling as they greet you in your cabin or in the alleyway. If you mention a special occasion they will get everything organised for you. The Cabin Stewardess on the Arcadia is a 16 strong Team and all hail from the Philippines. On an average they make up 34 beds twice a day and use 340ml of toilet cleaner everyday.

Of course we have also have a Brigade of Male Cabin Stewards to make up the fantastic Housekeeping Team on board Arcadia. There are One Thousand and Ten Staterooms to service every day! There is also another 'Hilton' below decks with 500 crew cabins!

I spent five years in Accommodation as Accommodating Officer and Deputy Purser Accommodation. In London I did my Housekeeping Training at the Park Plaza at Lancaster Gate and The Curzon in Park Lane!
This has been a lovely day at sea - the sun is shining and we are due to arrive in Guam tomorrow at 0700 hours. Marti Webb is on in The Palladium Theatre this evening so I will not be missing that! We also had the Cruise awards Ceremony today and I will have more on that in days to come. ARCADIA has been awarded Cruise Ship of the Quarter for two consecutive times, the vote coming from our P&O Cruises Directors. This is something the Arcadia Ship's Company are extremely proud of and we know for sure that we have earned it!
Best wishes
James.

Hi James
Lovely to see the lovely cabin stewardesses there onboard Arcadia. Male/female, the cabin staff do a wonderful job keeping the cabin our home from home.
Wow, wish I could have a surprise birthday party onboard. Birthday being March, it is not going to happen too soon as all the ships are usually away on world cruises! But intend to celebrate one day! :-)
Well done on getting cruise ship of the quarter. I can see why your extremely proud!
Loving the quote BTW ;-)

What a good job most of the stewards and stewardesses do and always so friendly and polite.
Tony has been lucky enough to have 3 birthdays on board and will have his 60th birthday on the World Cruise next year - so get the bubbly in and the decorations ready! This year we will be on Oceana in the Fjords for my birthday in June, so hopefully I'll also get the "Happy Birthday clap clap clap"
Guam sounds interesting.

Buonjourno James,
One of the great things about being on board is not having to make the bed which of course is expected in an hotel but the real treat is having the beds and the bathroom tended to twice a day! Of course Tony is used to that so on a cruise that is one little treat that is especially for me!
Here in Italy everyone throws open their windows whatever the weather and all of the bed linen is hung out for a really good airing! Try doing that on board and you could be in trouble!
The unfrotunate thing that goes hand in hand with all of that healty living is that the ladies don mens dark coloured socks to keep warm whilst thrashing their rugs to one inch of their lives and fetching in the logs!
Oh I do miss the glamour of Arcadia and not having to stomp arroung in Tonys socks and an oversized "pinny" !!
We both thought our cabin steward was fantastic (thank you Noel in B93 and a warm hello) but you are right theyall do a fantastic job and nothing is too much trouble - even when you have a tiger and two soldier boys from Mumbai under the bed!!
Buon lavoro a tutti,
Louise & Tony ("M" & James)
PS, we are on a mission to London today - all a bit secret (perhaps its my Birthday present?). xxx
Hi James, We certainly appreciate our cabin stewards, and always say that we wish we could take them home with us.You know there's a welcome in the hillside for you whilst on leave and we'll gladly take you around West Wales .Just give us a call, we'd be more than happy to accomodate you.(I'm not just saying that)
See you soon.
