The Laser light show.

A busy local street scene.

Fresh meat for sale at Tai Po market.

Fish heads for sale. The cheeks are supposed to be very good for your complexion!

Chicken feet are a sought after delicacy here.

A Wishing Tree at Tai Po.

Bags of colour in this very colourful city.

Buddha and Bamboo Monastery.

Good Day from the Arcadia!

Hong Kong is such an exciting city and one of the best destinations in the cruising world, so much could be said, however I will leave these pictures with you to make up your own mind. Many thanks for all your wonderful comments received - these make my day and lift my mind from routine tasks which are essential for day to day operation of this mighty vessel.

I do hope you enjoy these photographs, as you know Arcadia was alongside in HK on the 12th and 13th March 2009. Yesterday we had a very exciting day in Halong Bay - Vietnam and I will post a blog soonest - this was my first visit to Vietnam and I have a feeling that it will not be my last!
One of the great joys of my job is the hundreds of different people I get to meet from all over the world. I met Mrs Tina Barker at the Commodore's Gala Reception and she was so pleased to have a word with me as she and her husband have been reading my blog since the beginning.
Tina asked me to send birthday greetings to Fay Rosa on your 30th Birthday, and also a Happy Birthday to Jess - loads of love from Mum,Dad, Pat and Ray!! So there you have it wishing you both many happy returns! Treat yourselves to a cruise some year for your Birthday - you deserve it.
Best wishes,
James.

It is our differences that make us interesting.

Hi James

Oriana recently called at Vietnam too. They went to Nha Trang. DD loved it too. She was telling me all about it on a recent phone call home. She wants to go again some day. In fact she's loving the whole of this sector for them over on Oriana. Today they are in Mumbai. A big day for them I expect! Again with the families of the staff gathering and it's also a changeover day (I presume for both passengers and crew)! Well Oriana will be back in the UK in just over 2 weeks time. Doesn't time fly when your enjoying yourself? ;-)

"I don't give a damn - the next stop's Vietnam" that is what Tony says all of the time as it is one place that has been on out "hit list" for some time. I cannot wait to see the pictures!

We have been on a mission to Pisa so have been "out of circulation" for a few days! Sammy is well & we are happy we are all back together again!

Hope the day went well in Vietnam - get posting.

All of our love, Louise & Tony. xxx

Your pictures were fab and have sharpened the anticipation even more if possible. We have 3 cruises between now and HK to So'ton on Arcadia next year, but that's the one I'm concentrating on. James, do you know if you'll be on her next year?

Well, we've got good weather here at last and we've been out in the garden the last couple of days, so hopefully Spring is just around the corner.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

Hi, Good evening to all on Arcadia.

Great photo's of HK the view from the peak is magnificent. The star ferries remind me alot of the Manly ferry and other ferries that ply their trade on Sydney harbour.

Looking forward to the photo's from Vietnam. Thanks for making our day it is enjoyable to read it really helps with the relaxtion after a hard day working.
We had just under 40c yesterday.
