Arcadia makes her approach - everyone was so excited - a great time to arrive at 6.30pm.
Arcadia - just check out her size!
Arcadia - showcased to the World's Media today on her Inaugural Grand Voyage and her Maiden cruise to Sydney.
Just lovely!Good Day Everyone and greetings from Sydney 'down under'!
After arrival formalities were over last evening I went to China Town with some friends and we enjoyed an excellent dinner. Driving from the Rocks to China Town Sydney is just better than ever - very smart - all the buildings look as if they have had a face lift - expect this was for the Olympics? The shops are all smartly merchandised, with fabulous lighting and being a Friday Night everyone was 'out on the town', it was electric, the whole City was buzzing.
We had a very busy day on board the ship - to be expected, and after a hiccup with the baggage off loading this morning our day was under way - don't worry - no ones bag went in the water!!
The Functions all ran without a hitch and it was the usual round of press, media, past passengers and Travel Agents - all important to us and they were not in the way of anyone on board - as you can imagine - all our transit passengers were ashore enjoying whatever in this wonderful city.
Sophie Burgoine, Commodore Burgoine's daughter was sad to leave us today. Sophie is a great blog fan and all her Office Colleagues are wondering where she is! So here is a super photograph of Sophie with her Father, taken this morning on the Commodore's Suite Balcony.
See Arcadia on Picture Gallery by visiting http://www.pocruises.co.uk/arcadiainsydney - some superb camera shots from the air. I have put a few of these at the top of this blog. I will write more soon. We have a TV crew travelling from Sydney to Brisbane.
Live the moment - seize the day!

Breakfast time for me again! Late one today! Long story so won't bore you with it ;-)
Great photos again James.
Nice to see Commodore Burgoine and his daughter Sophie. Does Rosie still work in the photography department?? Last time we saw her she was working on Arcadia.
What a great view though from the Commodores balcony of the Sydney harbour bridge. Did anyone from the ship climb the bridge?
DD text and e mailed me the other day, to say whilst dining at the fine establishment they call McDonalds (it's amazing how you crave for things like McDonalds when you have so much fine food to eat onboard) the other day in Whitsunday islands, an old friend from where we lived spotted her sitting outside in the sun! What a small world. Imagine going all the way around the world and bumping into someone you know (at McDonalds of all places) (lol) ;-) And in the Whitsunday Islands. How random is that?? ;-) I guess the young lady must be travelling around Oz!
Well enjoy the rest of your stay in Sydney. Enjoy your evening (are you going out tonight)?

That looks amazing. And how big is Arcadia!!!??? it's hard to get my head around the fact you have cruised to the other side of the world!
I expect today is a very hectic day for you with so many passenegrs leaving and so many arriving. I hope everything goes(has gone) well.
At long last we have glorious sunshine here too - though not as warm as sydney of course.

What bute snaps James!
P&O really have pushed the boat out these Sinney photo opps; even better that Airdelight and Wisner Stralia!!
Have been following your blog with great interest, James. Thank you for taking the time out to post every day, thats's a real commitment! Lovely photos, the wonderful Arcadia looks great in any setting - even Sydney harbour! Lovely pic of Commodore Burgoine and his daughter. We met him for the first time on our August cruise - what a lovely person!
Enjoy the rest of your trip down under!
Best regards
Donna S
Thanks for the update James, especally when you must be pushed for time during your visit to Sydney.
Enjoy the rest of your time there.
Cheers
Mary K.
What great photos of Sydney James. It really is a magnificent setting and Arcadia did it justice.
So even Mr Chris is famous having made Sydney's Sunday Telegraph I see! Pictured with two great ladies. Being the mother and father of one of them we are torn between deciding which of them is the more beautiful! But that sure is a beautiful ship in the background!!!
One more go-to-sleep before we board in Brisbane, armed of course with the newspaper cutting for Mr Chris and his scrapbook!

Brilliant photgraphs of Arc coming into Sydney, when i was serving on the Arc in the 1970s we would sometimes tie up at Pyrmont you would go under the (coathanger) to get to the berth. It is a spectacular site going under the (coathanger)entering or leaving Sydney,if you were on the uppermost deck you felt like you could reach up and touch the underside.
Looking forward to your next update from rain soaked QLD, hope the sunshines when you are there.
You bring the cruise into peoples living rooms, offices,or where ever they may access this site it is great reading,it certainly brightens my day.
Can these bigger ships that P&O now operate get under the Harbour bridge.Looking forward to the answer.

Hello James,
"M" and James here!! Fantastic pictures and the commentry from you is perfect to make us wish we had not left the ship in Singapore but duty calls as you well know.
Our man in Singapore (Sammy) has now gone on a mission to Pisa but remember he always knows what you are up to with or without the blog!
Who knows we may yet parachute in on your return to Singapore for a short mission to Dubai - watch out MI5 (or is that MFI!)is on the lookout for "special agents" and you certainly are very special - thank you for your informative and amusing narrative from the other side of the world.
Louise & Tony xx
