Kho Samui - Thailand

Wish you were here? - Chaweng Beach at Kho Samui. There is a sense of well being, renewing of the mind, and restoration of the soul that only basking in the sun can bring to pass......

Good Day Everyone,

Last Wednesday, the 4th February, what a fabulous day our passengers enjoyed here on this sun kissed island. An island that was practically unknown until the early 1970’s. Only measuring 15kms across we needed to use the only main road, one that circumnavigates the island. We came ashore at the capital town of Na Thon where the local fishing fleet were just beginning to unload the day’s catch. But our main aim was to find and explore the beaches for which the island is well known.
Chaweng Beach

The beach at Chaweng is perhaps the island’s best and certainly the passengers were all agreed that this was paradise. Others enjoyed the almost identical situation at Choeng Mon beach. The sea was wonderfully warm and the sands brilliantly white.
Choeng Mon Beach

All in all everyone loved the day and for sure this idyllic island will feature in many people’s ‘must go back to’ places in the world. Maybe they should book the world cruise on Arcadia in 2010 to enjoy it all again!!

We came in search of paradise and we found it.

Best wishes to all,
James.

Oh those photographs are paradise and I could do with some of that right now, as we are all but cut offby the snow now.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

Same as Gill D we too are snowed in! The picture of the sunbeds with umbrellas, lovely light golden sand and the beautiful looking sea is more up my street! Such a contrast to here. It's a shame we can't upload a photo James, so you can see exactly just what your missing ;-) It is truly bad here and what's more my local authority only has enough grit and salt for the next 5 days. Living in the middle of nowhere has it's advantages (normally), but today it most certainly has it's disadvantages. I'm running out of basic food here and it's miles to the nearest supermarket and I don't want to drive in these conditions! Looks like it will be bran flakes for lunch today too ;-(

Hope everyone has got to Singapore OK??

Oh I'm just looking at the photos again. The lovely blue sky!! Oh heaven!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello James

The pictures certainly show paradise and it is good to know that the weather is decent somewhere in the world. We have just returned from Florida and there were even frosts there in the mornings! So you guys are lucky.
Please pass on our best wishes to Steve who joined you yesterday when Carl departed.
Enjoy the weather and we look forward to seeing your updates over the coming weeks.

Best wishes

Oh James, this is where I went on my honeymoon back in 2001! Brought lots of memories.....

Isn't it just fantastic there, although believe it is getting very commercialised now, which is a real shame...

All these wonderful pictures of "The Worldie" are really bring back to me, what I loved so much about working on board. Ah, being Night Manager was a god-send!!

Take care

Nadine
