Greetings from the Bismark Sea!

Friday night out in formal force! Helen, Jenny, James, Karen, Charlie and Stephen.
The magnificent deck head in Arcadia's Atrium.

James, Sataya our Number 1 Butler, and Stephen.

Good Day Everyone,

Hope you are enjoying a relaxing weekend. Friday was the most beautiful day with blue skies and endless sunshine, a lovely sea day for our passengers and a formal evening with the Portunus Parties and dinner. It was a bit of a shock this morning to find it was raining! An overcast morning - can't remember when we last had one of those!?
Anyhow that worked out well for the A Factor taking place in the Atrium on Decks 1, 2 and 3. All the Ship's Departments came together to show off the behind the scenes teams - the Engineering Department and Security on Deck 1, up through to Executive Chef Trevor Connolly doing his own live version of Saturday Kitchen - the only person missing was James Martin! Commodore Burgoine was book signing and surround by glamorous ladies from the Headliners Theatre Company. Even the Doctor was there with a display and there was a bed making competition which many of our passengers took part in. Trevor also had the 'how fast can you make an omelette'? challenge. The Crew Office and the Admin Department were also out in force. Also the Stores department and just about all areas across the board were represented. This went on from 1000 to Noon. Something different and much enjoyed.
The coxswains display their emergency gear.
The Spa team - Adrian, Steve, Emma and Paula.

The Engineering display was very popular.

Mike our Environmental Officer gives some good advice and information.

That's all for now folks - as we cruise through Micronesian waters...........
Best wishes,
James.
Be grateful for every step forward you can take with confidence in this life, for you will have begun a journey to something better than things are now.

James!!

You have done it again! What you are asking? Well it's simple - made me feel like I should really be on board and that I am missing out on something rather special!

It is such an interesting place to be and for those that work on board an "open day" gives everyone an opportunity to change their routine and refresh their enthusiasm for their jobs - not that you are ever lacking in that department James!

My "James" (AKA Tony - or was it Mike?) does a similar sort of thing and I know that variety is the spice of life and with our lifestyles I appreciate that every day is different and sharing experiences and stories does much for the body and soul.

So on that note James - keep up the blog, you are genuinely a "sharing caring" person.

I am looking forward to more photographs, even though I guess the weather will start to calm down a bit for you (either that or it will go with a swing!), I am sure the news and veiws will be spectacular.

With Love "M" & 007(AKA Louise & Tony) xx

Hi James

Now I have to say I have had to tone down the brightness on my computer today, because you looked like you were glowing (or is that a tan I spot)?? ;-)

I am looking at your Friday night in formal force. I notice Jenny has a lovely sliver dress on. Over on Oriana they all have to wear black on formal nights. So all the lovely dresses N brought for our Xmas cruise and work, have all come home to be put away for her next holiday! And she then had to buy more black formals. But you know us women - we don't need much of an excuse to buy nice evening frocks! (lol)! Apparently they have had a tailor onboard from Hong Kong (presumably he came onboard somewhere in Australia?) taking orders for all kinds of garments I guess. N said that they were asking £400 for an evening dress! Think she'll stick to Coast! She does want a silk dressing gown though - presumably to go with her comfy slippers that she now has with her. After all her cabin is her home from home! She lost a jumper and had me searching here for it! Couldn't shut her drawer the other day, so took it out and the jumper was at the back of the drawers! Along with other stuff - I didn't like to enquire as to what else was down there ;-)

Anyway, it was nice to see you all looking resplendent in your formal outfits and you look so well James.

What an interesting morning taht sounds. I hope there's something similar next year. I'm a dab hand at bed-making and "hospital corners" though - so may have an advantage!

Good day to you all on Arcadia,
hope it is not raining anymore, the pictures get better and better have you thought about a career as a travel reporter, you certainly would not have any trouble getting one with your in depth reporting. But being truthful a career at sea is the best possible job one can get, having been at sea myself.

Can you please answer a couple a questions for me.
1) Are the modern fleet on P&O liners all to big to go under the Sydney harbour bridge.
2)Are you going to keep doing a blog when you return to UK cruisng.

Thanking you in advance, looking forward to updates from Guam.

I too would be interested to know if the blog will continue on future cruises - I do hope so!

Not long now until we join Arcadia on 30 April.

We have been on Arcadia 3 times and have never seen the `A team' - I can only presume this is something new.

It sounds very interesting - can you tell me if this is something you now do on every cruise?

The A factor just takes place on longer cruises.
