Commodore Steve Burgoine receives a plaque from the Port CEO Vincent.

The Press Conference is under way in The Orchid Bar. There is so much Media interest for ARCADIA in Australia and in P&O Cruises UK - the leading Cruise Company out of Southampton waters.

Our Cruise Director Gary Glading talking to the local TV.

Everything has to be just right to interview Commodore Steve Burgoine - Master of Arcadia and Commodore to the P&O Cruises Fleet.

Matt from Radio 5AA - he was dashing off to read a Noon radio report. I was interviewed live on Radio 5AA Breakfast show at 0800 hours with 'Keith and Pilko'. Matt was telling me that the River Torrens has dried up as the Council Weir opened up accidentally and two million litres of water was let go! The water level dropped my 2 meters and has now dried up. Not good news when there is so little rain here. 5AA in the number one Breakfast Show in Adelaide.

That's a good story!

Kailish and team keep take care of the Neptune Bar and Pool area with great pride - they love the new furniture also!

Darren Chigwidden - Business Partnership Manager for Complete Cruise Solutions for South Australia on a tour with some local Travel Agents. Darren sailed with us from Fremantle and will be going home today. Darren and his Guests are pictured here in our Mega Shopping Mall - Deck 3.
Arcadia flying the Dress Flags in South Australia. Full livery today!
Fancy a dip?

Has anyone seen Gary Rhodes? Steve Mitchell - Senior Purser - Food and Beverage Manager and our Internationally renowned & Award Winning Executive Chef Trevor Connolly.

He is Here! Gary and Jenny fresh from the Limo!! And who is there to meet them Mr Blogger himself. I have sailed with Gary many times and Arcadia is second home to Mr and Mrs Rhodes - where Gary's first Restaurant at sea was launched. ARCADIAN RHODES.
And now it is only lunchtime. This afternoon we have meetings to finalise our maiden call at Sydney....................it just gets more exciting by the day.

Best wishes from the Arcaidians!
James.

Well breakfast time again. Nice and early today as I've had to take my OH to MK train station as he's working in Manchester this week. Not quite as exciting as your next port of call. Been following Oriana them last night and this morning! It's been a cloudy, showery day for there port of call!!!!!

Looks like you had a very busy day today in Adelaide. Lots of meeting and greeting and interviews!

I always get confused between Trevor Connolly and Trevor Glass (. Would I be right in saying both are from Ireland? I know they are both rather tall and attractive (but don't tell my OH I said that) ;-)

Looking forward to seeing you in Sydney. I came online just in time yesterday to catch Oriana entering the harbour on a sydney webcam. I'll look out for you guys too!

It all sounds so exciting on Arcadia's Maiden visit to Australia and it seems you're certainly getting a great welcome wherever you call. The weather looks fab - especially when I look out of the window here and everything is grey - even the grass looks grey!

I am soooooo glad I don't have to clean all the balcony glass fronts. Cleaning the inside of our windows at home is bad enough! The stewards do a great job keeping everything spick and span. In fact everything seems to run like the well oiled machine Arcadia is!

Thanks for another great report.

Well, this time next week we will be on Arcadia for the 1st of 52 nights, can't wait!
Have organised the house and pets ,pool, boat, smooth running of our business, etc,etc in preparation for our house sitters.
Major problem is that on our tickets it says embarkation and there is nothing there, phoned P&O Australia and they said Portside at Hamilton Bris. but the Bris. Port Authority have Arcadia listed as the Fishermans Island Berth, yuk, it is awful!Have left and arrived there a few times and is extremely industrial.Cunard said that they would never come to Brisbane again as the Fishermans Island Port is so disgusting.Queeen Vic,which we were berthed behind in Acapulco last year on Island Princess, berthed at Fishermans Island and no one was happy.
Does any one know where Arcadia is berthing in Brisbane? So don't want to miss the ship,we are flying down from up north and arriving at Bris. domestic Airport, need to know where to tell our Driver where to take us as seems that no one here has a clue!

Gday to all on the Arcadia.

We got off in Fremantle, and we are still tired from our time onboard, there is so much to do,or so little if you want, that's what makes cruising fun.
Good to see some familiar faces from onboard, please say hallo to Steve Mitchell from Geoff and Julieta.

We really enjoy the blog you put a great deal of effort into it.
It is a great way to start ones day, or to read after a hard days work.

All the best to all on Arcadia, you all do a wonderful job, you all deserve a pat on the back.

Hi James - really enjoying following the Arcadian Adventurers on the other side of the world. Glad to see you have managed to keep up the blog in spite of having all those Valentine Cards to open and read :-)

Once again another great blog, relly enjoying our cruise, it does seem as if we were with you, looking forward to hearing all bout Sydney just a pity you were not there for a little longer, my OH was on the 'old' Oriana and they stayed for two or three days.
Keep it coming James something to look forward to every day.

With regards to the above comment by Anonymous about boarding in Brisbane, we have similar concerns. We have nothing in writing and when contacted by us, P & O in Australia seemed uncertain as to arrangements. Our travel agent also contacted them and was advised that it is the Portside Wharf in Hamilton. However if anyone (maybe James) has "real" information, we would be delighted to have it because the two nominated dock areas are well separated and on opposite sides of the river!!

Hi James, still avidly reading your blog, it just gets better and better, very well done! I wonder if I could use your blog to ask Elaine (aurorabore) if she reads this can she post a link to the Sydney webcam as I have tried the Sydney Ports site and cannot find one.

Funny that we are all so unsure as to where we are boarding Arcadia in Brisbane!
Thought that I would just look at Arcadias web cam on the morning of the 23rd and will be able to tell whether the ship is berthed at Portside or Fishermans Is. Seriously hoping that it is portside!

Ken, the website you need to view Sydney harbour is in fact a "surf" site and deals mostly with our beaches. However try www.coastalwatch.com.au then choose New South Wales and then choose Sydney Harbour for views from the North side of the harbour towards the city. Then if you have a look at "South Head" you will be able to look from Manly all the way down the harbour towards the Harbour Bridge. If you time it right you will see Arcadia either coming or going when she visits. A challenge for you.

Doesn't look like any breakfast news for Elaine today!

Late breakfast today - had a lie in! Oh and did some cleaning before coming on here!!!! ;-)

Ken

this is the webcams I was looking at the other day!

http://www.sydney-webcam.com/index.php?nav=cam1

I did look at another one which usually has a birds eye view of Sydney Opera house and also the cruise ships, but it wasn't working due to technical difficulties. You could give it a try though!

http://www.therocks.com/sydney-Getting_Here_and_Around-Webcam.htm

Hope you have the same luck as me. On the first link you have to look out for the ship whilst it's enterting the port. I came on my pc just at the right time to see Oriana. I think it was about 7ish in the evening here in the UK when I saw Oriana!

Many thanks guys for the webcam links. I managed to log on to the "surf" cams this morning while it was still light in Oz and had a look at the South Head cam - great views, but was that rain on the camera lens?! Elaine I will try your links tonight when it is light again "down under".
