Hello,
Arcadia is now cruising the Mediterranean Sea and the sun is splitting the skies. Even with the sun out all our day time activities are packed out. I enjoyed a good nights sleep last night so feeling refreshed today. After a few appointments and meetings Carl our Food and Beverage Manager and I went for a walk around the ship. It was also my turn to inspect the Spa Area today on our rotational Hygiene Inspections. This was all good fun as the areas were very busy and there was a lot of banter! Paula the Spa Manager escorted us on the tour. We did have some fun with the camera and much to the amusement of other clients!!!!
Do I really have to go back to my Office??
Check out the Cocktail of the Day! Look don't touch - it is only 1.00pm!
Admire the view from the aft rail....................leaving all the UK winter behind.
This has been a superb start to our Grand Voyage and we are all looking forward to our first port of call tomorrow in Palma.
Apart from running the ship someone else was asking my about what colour of Aga they should be installing? Pewter or cream? I suggested that the colour of their stove should match the colour of their mixer!!! Perhaps Homes and Interiors could become another avenue in the blog!!
All those 'Iron Age' customers must be supporting John Lewis well as I heard on the news today that their sales were up over the holiday period. Shame about these M&S Stores that are having to close. Perhaps had they waved the charging for carrier bags.........!!! I was glad to see that Sainsbury's did well in their Christmas sales figures as they were the only local store where I could find suitable tined black cherries for a flambe dessert! Their Italian plum tomatoes were also rather good in my soup for Boxing day........what next - a cookery section??
For you blog enthusiasts I noticed today on 'wearecunard' that there was a feature on Doctor Peter Hawthorn - I had the pleasure of sailing with Peter on board Aurora. So Peter if you are reading this - best wishes to you and smooth sailing.
The difference with a Grand Voyage and regular cruising is the number of different nationalities on board. With our passengers staying for longer periods a community spirit forms and instead of Emmerdale it will be Cruiserdale!! As long as it is not Hotel Babylon........
There are a lot of pictures of me today - my sister tells me there is no need for me to be in them all!! I am working on featuring the Technical Team, Medics and various other Hotel teams in the next few days so keep checking out the blog. Is there anything you want to see? Let me know!
Have a great day,
Have a great day,
Bye for now,
James.

Oh wow, just seeing the view of the sea from the spa relaxes me, must be total bliss to actually sit in it! Keep up the grand work James, memories of your raucous laugh remain with me till this day!
All the best to you and fellow blogger enthusiasts.

Just caught up with your Blogg, looking good. You haven't changed since we last met about 14 years ago at 'Beaches'. Nice to see your still so enthusiastic about your life at sea.
Take care and have a good trip.

Hey.
Good to have you back James.
I cant wait till my cruise in December. I will have to try to meet you.
Talking about John Lewis, I worked there over the Christmas holidays in the Southampton branch and our sales were not too bad.
I too just got a perminant job there so Im happy.
If possible, I would really like to see some pictures of outside the ship when you next dock.
Have a great voyage.

Hello James
Please can I have a picture of my mum enjoying her self - as a P&O pensioner of course. Got a text from her today to say she was having loads of fun! Tell her we're missing her already but all ok here except for b****y weather!
Yours hopefully
Ann
Love the photo's James especially the one from the aft, and you lying on those hot beds in the Spa, I fell sound asleep when I was on them last, hope you didnt do that. Keep us posted on your progress on the GV and all the gossip too, as a Worldie is certainly different from a normal cruise, (remember the gollie's) from Aurora's Maiden WC.
Cheers
