We were blessed with very good weather for our first port of call, blue skies and sunshine all the way. If we had been here yesterday it would have rained all day! Did you know that ARCADIA was the last ship to call at PALMA in 2008 - Boxing day, and the first ship to call at PALMA in 2009 - so ARCADIA is very special to the people of the Island. They make us so welcome here and being a Saturday the shops were packed as the sales are on. If you look back in my November blogs you will see an aerial photo of the harbour and more pictures of Palma.
Thank you for all your requests for photographs and I will work on these and get them published to you as soon as I can so as we can keep this blog 'live'! I now know that you like to see pictures on the blog so for an easy Saturday evening for me I am sending you some photos of our call here in Palma today - because of the layout of the berth I was not able to get a good shot of the aft end of the ship so I will do this in another port.
Some people get all the best jobs - climbing the ladder of success!
The Royal Yacht Club is a very exclusive place to have lunch with great views all over the harbour and the City.
More Gin Palaces! Mine is bigger than yours.................................
It is a full time job touching up the ship's paintwork.
Shop till you drop! There are lots of excellent shops in Palma.
And so ARCADIA pulls off her berth in Palma after a memorable day for all, many people draped over the ship's rails, and she edges majestically out of harbour bound for Piraeus in Greece.
and the Sun sets over the hills........check our that moon......
As we sail out you can see the iconic Cathedral, what you cannot see here is that the mountains beyond are covered in snow! Wish you were here? Who is cooking dinner for you this evening? Our 109 Galley Brigade are ready to serve up!Hands to stations fore and aft for departure! The port is over but the evening is just beginning here on board our fabulous ship ARCADIA.
Best wishes meantime from all us Arcadians!
James.
