Hello Everyone,
SUNDAY BONUS EDITION OF THE BLOG!
My Direct Report the Khay Geebee was given the day off in Port Kelang so as he could visit Kuala Lumpur. I have been there in the past, when we were doing Australian Cruising during the Gulf War - so you can work that one out! We were on the 'old' Sea Princess based in Sydney Australia. Every two weeks we had a three day stop over in Hong Kong - how lovely was that! Some of the greatest days and nights ashore I have every enjoyed! Anyhow the condition was that if Dan was to go to KL then I needed some photographs for my blog! Mine are at home and are long before the digital age!! I have a built in wardrobe full of photographs, thousand since I joined the sea in 1983. For the first year I was busy putting them into albums to show off to my family and friends, but then life gets busier and busier and before you know it there are just too many to file. With the old 35mm out of every 36 photos you would get about two really good ones! I was trained by the late Lord Litchfield - true - he travelled on board Sea Princess (later Victoria) on special themed photography Cruises. He was great fun and I learned a lot.
The Petronas Towers - KL.

The Petronas Towers were also made famous by the movie ENTRAPMENT starring Sir Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta - Jones. I have not met them as yet!!.......
The Petronas Twin Towers were the world's tallest buildings, after the Sears Tower and before being surpassed by Taipei 101 . However, the towers are still the tallest twin buildings in the world. Tower One is fully occupied by the Petronas Company and Tower Two hosts different companies like Microsoft, IBM and Boeing.

Below - a Signature of British Excellence overseas - in this case used by the Malaysian Royal Family. Rolls Royce! Malaysia is a federal constitutional elective monarchy. The federal head of state of Malaysia is commonly referred to as the King of Malaysia that is elected to a five-year term among the nine hereditary Sultans of the Malay states; the other four states, which have titular Governors, do not participate in the selection. The yellow number plate.......I can dream.........

Hello James
What a great way to start a Sunday - please thank Khay for the photos. Only three days until Mum comes home - Alex and Tom can't wait but a little bit sad they can't come out and join you!
Keep up the good work - your blog is brilliant - you don't know how fantastic it is to see all the stages rather than waiting for the pictures when my mum gets home.
Have a good day

P.S Tell all those getting off in Bangkok to wrap up - wind chil minus 4 and probably snow tomorrow and Tuesday - think you might have a few people staying on!!!
Hi James
Your blog is just fantastic. It is good to get up every day and read about progress on the Grand Voyage and see all the lovely photographs. Many thanks for taking the time to keep the blog going.
Have you started writing your memoires yet? You should as you have so much to record. We are sure they will be a best seller!
Take care and safe sailing to you all.
Best wishes

Breakfast on a windy, chilly Sunday here in the UK James. First stop - again - your blog! All I can say this morning is WOW, WOW, WOW! Great photos Dan, thanks! Make sure James buys you a drink or two ;-) The petronas towers are much nicer than London's own Gherkin! Kind of a similar idea to the twin towers in New York before 9/11. And strangely enough James the shopping mall looks nice too! Bet I cold have spent some money in there! BTW didn't win the lottery last night. Oh well there's always Wednesday (lol)!
You started working at sea the year my daughter was born! So that will be 25 years you've been at sea. Has that always been with P & O? And if so do you get anything in recognition of the fact that you've worked for them for 25 years? (like a gold rolex watch) lol ;-)
Right off now to look at Arcadia's webcam! Oriana's is in the dark, so no point looking at that yet. They are in Honolulu today.

I have had guests the last couple of days so have missed your blog. How fantastic to catch up with now fewer than 3 entries! Heaven!
The photographs are truly wonderful and it is so interesting to learn about the stores catching up with you, so that the passengers may eat their usual fare.
James I met you once on J706 (Barbados to Southampton)when we travelled with a group of P&O's Cruise Connections members. 9 of us are off on Coral Princess in April from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles - we're really looking forward to that one too. I wonder will you be on Arcadia's World Cruise next year?

This blog just keeps getting better! Have a wonderful time those of you who are lucky enough to be joining James & co in person, you'll have a wonderful time. And thanks again to James for all the work put into this blog.
Hello James,
Another admirer of your wonderful blog here and I thank you along with the others for all your effort in producing it.
Your mention of Sea Princess reminded me of the great cruise I had on her in January 1988 which culminated in Australia Day on Sydney Harbour for our Bicentennial.
A truly memorable experience.
Keep up the good work,
Wayne (in Melbourne having survived three consecutive days of 43C plus temperatures this week)
What memories this has brought back we were there on Aurora March 2002 when all that was built was the cruise terminal and the roads. So has the town been built yet?
Loved the item about restocking your pantrys!!!! whow I wont moan now when I have to unpack the weekly shop.
Thank you so much for the updates. Enjoy the heat its freeeezing here.
Hi James
Pleased to see you managed to load all your stores even with the tidal problems.
Re the Rolls Royce in one of the pictures, The Sultan of Selangor often travelled with us from what was Port Swettenham to Hong Kong and returned on board the P & O passenger ship Chitral which was on the Far East service with her sister ship Cathay in the 1960's.
( Little before your time !)
When his party joined the ship there would be about eight Rolls Royce cars on the quay side and his band would play the ship out of port.
On the return to Port Swettenham, which was an overnight stay in port, all our round voyage passengers and senior ships staff were invited to a party at the palace that night.
Wonderful photographs, please thank KGB or Dan for the memories.
I wonder if that's the same Dan I have to find onboard? as I have some photo's to deliver to him too.
A fleeting glimpse of the old Concorde Hotel, from above. I knew it well. It use to be the Merlin, many years ago.
Well, I cant stop here long today as I've just been told there's a pile of the other half's shirts waiting to be folded, in readiness for my packing them later.
Oh! the joys of travel.
See you on the 6th.
Peter & Alan.
Just caught up on the last few days James - fascinating as usual. Brought back memories of visiting KL from Singapore a few years ago. An intriguing place but it was the most humid city I have ever visited.
Watch out for that Peter & Alan when they join you - they are sooo demanding ;-)
